1893 Organ Pipes

Reverend Thomas McSweeney was the founding pastor of Berkeley's Cathedral of St. Francis de Sale.  The Cathedral, built in 1893, was located on Grove street between 21st and Hobart.  The sugar pine organ pipes used in this desk (or bar back or shop display or wine cellar storage or kitchen sideboard) were are from the original pipe organ commissioned by Rev. McSweeney.  after one hundred years, St Francis de Sale was demolished due to irreparable damage from the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989.

Salvage In Outdoor Spaces

We really enjoy it when customers send us photos of the projects they do with Old Portland's wares!  Poppy sent us a few photos of how she incorporated her Old Portland finds into her lovely outdoor spaces.

This awesome Pioneer sign and wrench are both from the shop.  The Pioneer sign was snapped up less than a week after it hit the shop floor (or shop wall)!

Lots of great stuff is happening at Old Portland!  So much so, we have come to realize we can't show enough of what we do on just our website or our Facebook.  Our posts might be introducing the next Old Portland event Melinda is planning, process pictures of Bret constructing a giant desk out of turn of antique organ pipes, or showing an amazing set of Art Deco drawer pulls Tyler just finished restoring.  Please join us, we will be sharing lots of history, product, customer projects, how to's, and Old Portland behind the scenes.
